Beautiful 17m Dutch Barge with residential mooring

'Freule' ('Duchess') was built in 1923. Originally a coastal commercial vessel, she was converted into a spacious, comfortable live-aboard in the late 1960's / early 1970's. The hull and main deck are constructed from riveted iron, whilst the newer superstructure is made of steel. Most of the outside has recently been repainted. We made sure that everywhere we worked on was taken back to a sound surface and where metal was exposed it was coated with an anti-rust treatment (either Fertan or Vactan). The wheelhouse roof is removable and the sides collapsible to allow access under low bridges. In May 2015 it was dismantled, cleaned off, reassembled and resealed. The main roof was stripped of it's previous resin based covering in 2011 and re-coated with a 2 part epoxy paint. This has been re-touched with Vactan and primer, where needed, and is now ready to have a top coat in whatever colour the next owner wants. The living area is reached through the large wheelhouse and comprises of: -Living room (approx 4m x 3m) with a Refleks oil stove, double bed settee, foldaway table and chairs and large cupboard containing Hotpoint washing machine / dryer and storage space. -Galley (approx 2m x 3m), equipped with a standard size Flavel-Leisure LPG cooker, mains fridge/freezer and separate Electrolux mains/24v/LPG fridge, and new LPG Morco F-11E water heater. -Bedroom (approx 2m x 3m) with an extendable double bed, wardrobe and built-in cupboard. -Shower room (approx 1.5m x 3m) with sink, cupboards and W.C. which empties into the holding tank. There is forward storage space beyond this point. The steps down to the accommodation were made last year by a local furniture maker. Most of the Freule's bilges can be accessed and those under the living room and galley have been thoroughly cleaned and given an anti-rust treatment. After the floor was repaired and relaid, easily removable insulating tiles have been used as a floor covering. The engine is a 105 h.p. DAF 475 type 6-cylinder, raw-water cooled and was serviced in 2012. The engine room is spacious and can be accessed through either a door or 2 separate hatches. There is a combination of 24v and 240v mains electricity throughout the boat supplied by a 3KW Phoenix inverter/charger, 6 domestic and 2 starter batteries. Plus a diesel generator for back up / off-mooring electricity. The mooring has an electric hook-up, which is included in the mooring fee. A galvanic isolator was fitted in 2014. 6 anodes were fitted to the hull in June 2008 and were last checked in May 2014. Last survey was completed June 2013. The hull was re-blacked during this survey and again in May 2014 when the boat was out of the water to have some redundant pipe fittings removed. Safety certificate valid until Aug. 2016. Freule comes with an easily transferable residential mooring on the outskirts of Bristol at a quiet, friendly boatyard with secure access and plenty of wildlife.
